SMARTS String Exploration 1, Grades 3-12| Silvia Games Dubos
Week #1|June 6, 7, 8, 9
This is a workshop to strengthen foundation, techniques and skill. Students will learn how to musically listen and play the violin. We will also introduce the cello and learn basic technique and posture. We will play strength building games, exercise and warm ups while being exposed to different genres and arrangements. We will learn to identify parts of the violin and cello, posture, form for holding the bow, basic bowing, and finger- plucking (pizzicato) techniques on open strings. If you own a violin or cello, bring it with you! We will also have instruments available for student use. Students must bring their own labeled lunch and drink.
