The Fall Catalog is here, with 31 classes to be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, this represents 353 spots for students!! Classes will be both in-person and live online via Zoom through Virtual SMARTS. All classes are free, open to the public, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
SMARTS works hard to ensure variety and a unique set of offerings and this semester is no different. Look for SMARTS Every “Body” Can Dance a family class meant to cause laughter and a dance-off or two! Or maybe SMARTS Printmaking Extravaganza, a printmaking class that will create the SMARTS Christmas cards for the year. Maybe test out your singing voice in SMARTS Children’s Choir or find which family member is the best drummer in SMARTS Beats “Drums for All.”

SMARTS is excited to attend OKCC again this year in Mansfield, OH! SMARTS plays a role in planning this conference, collaborating with state and national organizations to plan two days of professional development opportunities which aim to deepen the understanding of arts integration practices and implementation. SMARTS is proud to offer Arts Integration as a premier program, and continues to support our teachers and partners to provide quality Arts Integration learning in the classroom.
SMARTS Holiday Open House Shows Growth - 3 minutes with the Business Journal
The SMARTS Holiday Open House was a success, with over 150 students, families, staff, teachers, and community members attending. Much to our excitement, the event also included a ribbon cutting ceremony for SMARTS Richard James Hanson Library, a collection of 650 art books donated by the family of the late Richard James Hanson. This library will serve as a resource for SMARTS staff, teachers, and students. You can read more about this event on our What's New page, or at the link below!
SMARTS Strings are available for students in Grades 3-12 who are interested in learning to play the violin or cello. SMARTS Strings begins two weeks before all other classes and will start the week of September 4. SMARTS Strings runs 11 weeks each semester—Fall and Spring. If your student wants to participate in SMARTS Strings, you will need to commit to both semesters this year.

We are excited to offer our SMARTS Strings Program and the addition of cellos this year with a generous grant from the Jack & Doris Andrews Foundation. These lessons give students the opportunity to investigate the world of strings in an exciting and group format allowing students to play individually and in ensemble. Students will learn to identify musical terms, music theory, musical styles, history, maintenance, and the basics of musical performance on their instrument. If students do not have their own instrument, SMARTS will provide one on loan. Students will not need to register for SMARTS Strings. They will be enrolled in their class after this meeting. Upon enrollment, a confirmation email will then be sent to confirm class/date/time information.
