SMARTS 3D Character Building Workshop, Grades 4-8 (Robert Kerr & Bryant Youngblood of The Evolve Innovation Center)
Artists make a series of decisions about how they choose to illustrate a concept, character, or idea when they create characters. This class is an opportunity to take a deep dive in character development and creation. Students will build two skills for the price of one by working with a professional Animator to create and develop their characters. While simultaneously learning the software and skillset for three-dimensional design and printing by Bryant. Students will walk away with an understanding of how to move through a complete design process, a printed 3D version of their characters, mock plans and designs, the ability to design on a computer and- last but not least- an understanding of how to design art that moves through space. Learning how to think about and design from a 360-degree perspective is a tool in conceptualizing art that is invaluable and will travel with the students forever.
