The Kindness of Strangers Helps SMARTS
Doug and Going the Distance for SMARTS have made it across North Dakota and are now getting the Minnesota experience. All across this journey, Doug has met a number of people—passing cyclists, convenient store clerks, waitresses, motel and campground employees, and Warm Shower hosts. Just like Terri, Drew, and their dog, Poppy. They recently provided respite to Doug with friendly accommodations, including an impromptu concert on their home’s piano. Doug didn’t have to rely on any earworms that day!
He often recounts that the folks he meets want to know all about his journey. This has given Doug many opportunities to spread the message about SMARTS and how passionate he is about arts education. We, too, rely on the kindness of both friends and strangers to help provide access and early training in the arts for northeast Ohio’s PK-12 youth.
Go to our SMARTS website at https://smarts.tunahelper.net/smarts/going-the-distance-for-smarts-donation/ to “Donate By The Mile.” $5 = each mile so please donate for 1, 5, 10, 20, or more miles. Doug will cycle an average of 60 miles a day so let’s all keep him on pace with a smile on his face!
