SMARTS Music Lab Debuts this Spring!

Introducing the SMARTS Music Lab
With Grant Support from The Les Paul Foundation
Does your student want to take their music education and abilities to the next level? Help them find the right key to unlock & grow their inner musician! We're offering a new four-semester series for advanced music students: the SMARTS Music Lab. This spring, start the journey towards a deeper understanding of music theory, history, recording, ensemble playing, and composition with this unique class offering for students in Grades 5-12. This new dynamic in SMARTS' music education is taught by Simon Kenneally, our Rock Band and Guitar instructor.

Each semester, you'll explore a different set of related genres to grow your expertise, as one session builds upon the last. Students will experiment with music recording and creation with an introduction to music production. They will have the opportunity to not only build their artist profile, but also develop a recording profile. The hands-on experience will give these students creative confidence and the skills they need for the music industry. This is a wonderful opportunity for your students who are interested in a career in the music industry.
Students Motivated by the Arts is among a select group to receive a grant from the Les Paul Foundation for our Music Lab Series. Les Paul, the gold-record recording artist, inventor, songwriter and entertainer, established his foundation to support and encourage young musicians and innovators. The Les Paul Foundation inspires innovative and creative thinking by sharing the legacy of Les Paul through support of music education, recording, innovation, STEM and STEAM programs, music therapy for military veterans struggling with PTSD, and medical research related to curing tinnitus.
The Les Paul Foundation, an approved IRC 501 (c)3 organization, has awarded almost $5,000,000 to non-profit organizations throughout the United States that share Les Paul’s story.
